Pure CBD doesn’t seem to cause dependence like marijuana (cannabis) or sleep medications. It is not addictive.
A World Health Organization Expert Committee on Drug Dependence (ECDD) reviewed cannabis and cannabis-related substances to consider the appropriateness of their current scheduling within the International Drug Control Conventions. 2 Because CBD was not found be psychoactive (mind-altering) or to present potential for abuse or dependence, the committee recommended that CBD be removed from international drug control. 3
